Today’s IT department needs to not only provide Business Intelligence solutions to their internal processes, they also need to be able to offer BI solutions to other departments and users throughout the organization.
BI technologies provide a platform in which a business can find, extract and analyze business data. Whether you’re talking about something like sales revenue by product or whether you’re talking about cost center figures, Bi deals with the way that businesses operate.
There are a number of points of view that BI provides a business. They can give historical, current and sometimes even predictive looks at your organization’s operation. BI includes functions like benchmarking, text mining, data mining, reporting, online analytical processing, business performance management and predictive analysis.
The point of BI is to create an environment in which your organization can make better decision. It is a way to use structured data to make informed decisions about how your organization should operate.
Oracle is one of the most reliable sources for BI solutions. For example, in a 2009 Garter study, Oracle was placed squarely in the Leader Quadrant. Leaders are defined in the report as vendors that have both breadth and depth of capabilities when it comes to BI. This, in turn, makes them one of the best choices for BI vendors.
What it comes down to is that Oracle BI solutions allow organizations to make fast, reliable decisions. There are a number of components to the solution, known as the Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation, including:
• Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition Plus,
• Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher,
• Oracle Essbase, and
• Oracle Real-Time Decisions.
These applications that are packaged BI solutions. They offer organizations business intelligence that’s based on roles in order to make better decisions, take decisive actions that get results and improve their business practices.
In addition, Oracle offers other BI products to help support other aspects of a business. The Oracle EPM system, which includes Oracle BI Foundation, Oracle BI Applications ans well as Hyperion performance management gives a business access to BI related to financial, strategic and even operational management. In turn, this lets a business be both smarter and more agile.
